Seura Shaded TVs
While the summer may be behind us at the moment, there’s a good chance you’ll be out and enjoying the Aspen sun sooner rather than later. And what better way to get the most out of your outdoor experience than with AV? Seura – manufacturer of both outdoor and mirror TV displays – has identified a need in the market for displays specifically designed for use in shaded areas. The devices that exist tend toward dull and washed-out images, while putting an indoor TV outside is generally a bad idea. Their new suite (featuring 55”, 65”, and 75” models) offers higher levels of brightness, 2.5 channel audio from front-mounted speakers, and the durability to survive in outdoor conditions.
Sony Adds IMAX
Just last month we previewed some of the biggest projector developments from one of the world’s display-tech leaders: Sony. Recently IMAX partnered with DTS on IMAX Enhanced – a program to certify AV gear offering the best audio and video quality possible. Sony has gone all in, and their new line of projectors shows it. Sony’s projectors made a big splash, especially the high-end-but-affordable VPL-VW995ES, which features an 18-piece glass lens, Digital Focus Optimizer, and a robust 2200 lumens. But the IMAX Enhanced lineup didn’t stop with projectors – their new line of TVs also sports the certification. Between IMAX and OLED, the new Master Series is looking good when it comes to home AV displays.
Samsung Voice Control
While it didn’t make its debut at this year’s expo, Samsung’s Bixby-enabled smart speaker managed to make an impression. Dubbed the ‘Galaxy Home,” the speaker was announced last month, but it’s already an exciting development. Featuring a black cloth-covered body, the speaker offers new levels of audio control to the voice-control game. A subwoofer and six drivers make it one of the better-sounding voice-control speakers on the market, but the SoundSteer tech is what’s most notable. SoundSteer is an audio control system that generates directional sound to the empty spaces in the room. Simply say “Hi Bixby, SoundSteer,” and the channel fires in your direction.
