Here’s Why You’ll Use Your Home Theater a Lot More in 2018
A Reason to Be Thankful for Your Home Theater Installation There’s no denying it: 2017 was a year for change. Some of it was good, some of it was bad, but as we look forward to a new year, there could be even more seismic shifts in our near future. For example, commercial movie theaters are disappearing. And the latest move by one major chain could mean you’re getting a lot more use out of the home theater installation in your Springfield, IL property. Want to know what that means for your viewing habits? We have the answers right here.
What’s Happening at Regal?
Is Regal Entertainment, one of the nation’s largest movie theater chains, going the way of the dinosaurs? Not exactly, but, according to a report by USA Today, it might not ever be the same. “One of the nation's biggest movie theater chains announced Tuesday that it is being sold as the industry copes with more people spurning the big screen in order to stay home and watch their favorite blockbuster. Regal Entertainment said it had reached an agreement to sell itself to United Kingdom-based Cineworld Group for about $3.6 billion.” Essentially, the report reveals that because of homeowners who have invested in home theaters, commercial movie theater chains have started declining. It goes on to state that movie ticket sales were down more than four percent in 2017, with winter holiday blockbusters like Star Wars: The Last Jedi still waiting to make or break the year as a whole. It’s not all bad news, though. Cineworld, the new, UK-based owners intend to maintain a strong US presence and Regal still has a chance to back out before late January.
What Does It Mean for Your Home Theater?
How will this big change to Regal Entertainment’s ownership affect you? Well, if you’ve invested in a high-quality home theater, it probably won’t. That’s because you likely already enjoy many Hollywood movies in the comfort of your own home. But if you haven’t already begun thinking about your private cinema, here’s where to start:
Screen: Don’t go with the biggest unit. Go with the one that fits your space. That’s determined by the location and position of the seating as well as the dimensions of the room.
Seating: Along with the position of the seats, consider the height, materials and comfort. These are all huge factors in choosing the right ones.
Sound System: Don’t accept poor audio. Dolby Atmos allows you to enjoy commercial theater-quality sound even in small rooms.
Projector: Think 4K is passé? Think again. More and more content is being produced and played in 4K. There’s never been a better time to get on board.
Network: If you want to enjoy full 4K content, your network will need to support it. Make sure you upgrade your network when you invest in a home theater system.
